Ny Times staff photographers have won either one of the 2014 Pulitzer Prizes for photography, prize administrators at Columbia University announced today.

Times staff photographer Tyler Hicks wat the Pulitzer for Breaking News Photography for his coverage of the terrorist attack on the Westgate Mall in Nairobi, Kenya last September.

Josh Haner, also a Times staff photographer, won the Feature Photography prize for his photo essay last May about Boston Marathon bombing victim Jeff Bauman, who was rebuilding his life after losing most of both legs.

Members of The Boston Globe staff, including photographers John Tlumacki and David L. Ryan, won the Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Reporting for his or her coverage of the April 15, 2013 Boston Marathon bombing.

Tlumacki and Ryan were both finalists for the Breaking News Photography prize for his or her coverage of the marathon bombing. Goran Tomasevic of Reuters was also a finalist for the prize for a few of his coverage of the Syrian civil war.

The finalists for the Feature Photography prize, meanwhile, were Lacy Atkins of the San Francisco Chronicle and Michael Williamson of The Washington Post.
