Photography is as much about equipment as it is talent but the most important peice of kit is the lens. Without it you don’t have a photo, and the money you spend on a lens can make you a healthy return if the photos are magnificent.
A brilliant camera with a basic lens may not do the job, yet a poor SLR camera with a decent lens won’t work either. A good camera professional SLR camera will cost under £5000 yet a lens could cost more, especially if it’s an incredible telephoto zoom lens camera with a huge range. Lenses stay with you from camera to camera, if you stick to a certain manufacturer, which you should, yet cameras will change slightly over time, or perhaps will just need replacing.
Make a good collection of lenses your priority, and then when you need to, update your camera. You’ll then have the majority of the kit you need for your photography jobs while you can add more lenses as you become more successful.
